The ChatGPT app allows you to ask questions and chat with the chatbot so that the AI, either in its version based on GPT-3.5 or in its GPT-4 version (which is accessed by subscription). Until now, to use the app it was obviously necessary to access the app. But its latest update adds a really useful and fast shortcut.

How to configure quick access to ChatGPT on Android phones

A recent update to the ChatGPT app for Android, available directly from Google Play StoreIt allows add a button to access ChatGPT directly from the quick settings panel of mobile, as shared by Mishaal Rahman on X (Twitter).

This means that to access ChatGPT you will only need to swipe down from the top of the screen and press the small button with the ChatGPT logo, no matter what screen you are on.

It is even possible access ChatGPT while in another app like YouTube, Telegram or any other.

Activating quick access is quite simple. On Samsung Galaxy phones, follow these steps:

  • Swipe down from the top of the screen twice to access the quick settings panel.
  • Press the button shaped like pencil.
  • Press the buttons Edit on each screen, and configure the ChatGPT option to appear both among the most used options (with a single swipe) and in the quick settings panel (which appears with a double swipe). It is only necesary slide the ChatGPT icon to the position you want.

The result will look like the image below, depending on the position you set the button. Now, when accessing the mobile’s quick settings there is the button to start ChatGPT with the push of a button.

On mobile phones like the Google Pixel, the process is very similar:
