Xiaomi Pad 5, which arrived in Italy last fall (and we promptly reviewed it), now has an older brother, albeit for the moment only in China. We are talking about Xiaomi Pad 5 Prothe new tablet unveiled today at home together with the folding smartphone MIX Fold 2 and, also considering the Redmi sub-brand, the K50 Ultra.
More than a “Pro” model, in reality, we could say that we are dealing with an “XL” version of the basic Pad 5. The design, with symmetrical and thin frames and flat edges in the iPad style, remains in fact on the whole unchanged, and more than the technical data sheet it is the dimensions that change. The natural effect of the presence of a display (LCD, 2,500×1,600 pixels, refresh rate 120 HzHDR 10) increased: it goes from 11 inches of Pad 5 to 12.4 in by Pad 5 pro. The panel can reach a peak brightness of 500 nits and supports the DCI-P3 color gamut, as well as being able to boast Dolby Vision certification.
Under the thin body (the thickness is only 6.66 mm and the weight is 620 grams) of Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro beats a Qualcomm heart, that of the Snapdragon 870 SoC. The tablet is available in different memory denominations starting with 6 GB of LPDDR5 RAM + 128 GB of UFS 3.1 storage passing through the median configuration from 8 + 256 GB and finally arriving at the maximum from 12 + 512 GB. At the software level we find the MIUI Pad 13 based on Android 12.
The battery, which has a generous capacity of 10,000 mAh and supports 67W fast charging, and cameras. In total those Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro are four: the front one, from 20 MPand the rear three respectively from 50 MP (main) e 2 MP (two depth sensors, to make more scene than anything else).
As for the prices Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro will soon be available for purchase in China for the equivalent of 420, 490 or 600 euros depending on which of the three memory configurations you prefer. The company has not yet communicated anything about the intention to bring the product to the global market, and therefore currently we do not know if it will ever land in our part.
