In the past few hours what could be leaked technical specifications of Xiaomi 12T, the “base” exponent of the new family of top-of-the-range smartphones from the Chinese manufacturer whose debut should take place within the next few weeks, just in time to better face the Christmas shopping season.

The information comes from the boys of XiaomiUI, which among other things performed a nice data mining operation by rummaging in the code of another smartphone model of the company, to be precise the 12 Pro (variant with Dimensity chip). We summarize briefly and by points what emerged:

  • Codename: Plato
  • Display: 1.5K resolution (2,712 x 1,220 pixels), fingerprint scanner integrated into the display, OLED technology
  • SoC: MediaTek Dimensity 8100 Ultra (new chip, apparently made at 5 nm, at the moment it is not clear how it differs from the “standard” Dimensity 8100 but it is legitimate to hypothesize higher frequencies and little else)
  • RAM: 8GB, LPDDR5
  • Storage: 128 or 256GB, UFS 3.1
  • Cameras:
    • Rear main: 108MP sensor, Samsung ISOCELL HM6
    • Rear ultra-wide angle: 8MP sensor, Samsung S5K4H7
    • Rear macro: 2MP sensor
    • Front: 20MP sensor, Sony IMX596

At the moment, no details have emerged about the battery or the charging speed. Of all that we have reported above, the data that leaves a little more perplexing is that of the resolution of the display; it seems strange that Xiaomi decides to go out of standard compared to a traditional FHD +. It cannot be excluded that the code refers to something else, but for the moment we simply have no elements to draw more concrete judgments.

Recall that Xiaomi 12T should be accompanied by at least one other model, the 12T Pro, with 200 MP main camera (It is not yet clear whether it will use the Samsung ISOCELL HP1 or HP3 sensor). We expect a launch between August and September, at least in China.
