Nubia Red Magic 7S (opening photo) and 7S Pro have been around since this summer and it’s already time to think about the next generation; thanks to Digital Chat Station and the always very active leaker scene on the Chinese social network Weibo, the first concrete technical data of Red Magic 8 Pro are starting to emerge, what will be the top-of-the-range gaming phone of the company partially owned by ZTE, among improvements and compartments that will remain substantially identical to those already seen this year. In particular:

  • Same 6.8″ OLED display as predecessor
  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chips
  • Triple rear camera: 50 + 8 + 2 MP (main, ultra-wide and auxiliary, respectively)
  • Front camera under the new generation display more performing, even if the resolution of the sensor will remain 16 MP
  • Two variants for the battery: 5,000 mAh and 6,000 mAh
  • Fast charging at 165W for the smaller variant
  • Measurements: 163.98 x 76.35 x 8.9mm, 228g

Battery question: it is very likely that the 5,000 mAh variant with 165 W charging will be dedicated to the Chinese market, while the international variant will have slower charging speeds, but a larger battery. It’s a modus operandi that we’ve already seen this year with the Red Magic 7 – where the international models didn’t go beyond 65W. It’s worth mentioning that 165W charging has already been confirmed (again only for the Red Magic 8 Pro Chinese) in recent days thanks to the 3C certification.

As for the display, the source says it will remain the same, but there will be improvements in terms of interaction with the selfie camera hidden under it – somehow the sensor will manage to “see better” through the display and thus produce better quality photos.
