Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 continues to amaze on the benchmark tables, showing how the newly announced next-generation chip is able to achieve excellent performance that bodes well for all the top-of-the-range Android world that will go to equip it from the end of this year onwards.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 amazes in benchmarks
The new sighting on Geekbench 5 in fact, shows us a very promising scenario as the protagonist of this passage is not one of the next Galaxy S23, which we know will adopt an enhanced version of the chip, but it is a series of benchmarks relating to Vivo X90 Pro Plus, the new top of the range from Vivo which will be based on the standard version of Snapdragon 8 Gen 2., identified by the flagship frequency of the X3 core equal to 3.19 GHz.
As we can see from the results proposed just below, the smartphone in question manages to obtain results that we had never seen in the Android world, going to nimbly break the 5,000-point barrier in the multi-core test – it goes up to 5.106 – and getting extremely close to 1,500 points in single core, with a value of 1,492.
Both results are very important, as demonstrate the goodness of the chip even in its basic configuration. The multi-core data, in fact, is about 10% higher than what was detected by the Galaxy S23 benchmarks, while the single-core one is only a few points lower than the value of 1,504 obtained by one of the next top of the Samsung range .
Of course, these data almost never need to be considered to the unitas they intervene several factors at play that alter the final resultsso it is not possible to rely on the results of the Vivo to say that the basic variant offers better performance than the enhanced one.
Scores are indeed also influenced by factors such as the dissipation system and the choices of the producers who can decide to favor certain aspects of the SoC by acting selectively, also in order to achieve a certain energy balance. However, these are important results for the basic variant, which lays solid foundations – at least in terms of power – for the next season of top of the Android range regardless of the brand.
