New Vivo Y17s

Vivo has presented its new smartphone for the Spanish market, a model that can now be obtained for only 200 euros.

It is easy to forget that the mid-range and low-range sectors are the ones that move the most units in Spain, and where there is more potential to get real ‘bargains’. A good cheap mobile phone is not much different from more expensive models, at least in some aspects.

The new vivo Y17s presented today goes in that direction. This is the brand’s new ‘entry’ model, with a starting price of 219 euros; although it is already easy to find it in some stores like MediaMarkt for 199 euros. Therefore, it represents the cheapest way to make the jump to this brand that appears both in sporting events such as LaLiga or the Euro Cup.

Apart from its sports sponsorships, vivo has become famous for its cameras; All of their devices prioritize this section above the rest, and the Y17s is no exception, with a triple camera that seems to surpass its rivals in the same price range.

The company itself recognizes that the vivo Y17s complies with the “camera first” philosophy. To do this, it is based on a 50 Mpx main sensor, which represents a big leap compared to the 13 Mpx sensor that the previous generation of this device had; The aperture is f/1.8 and it has PDAF focus. It comes with a 2 Mpx camera to achieve the ‘Bokeh’ effect, as well as a 2 Mpx macro camera. Therefore, we do not have a wide angle, but it is evident that live they have preferred to focus on supporting the main camera, which is the main protagonist.

And vivo promises sharp and clear photographs, something that is not very common in this sector. The camera app also reflects this commitment, with functions such as a mode that allows us to use the screen to illuminate ourselves, a variety of ‘bokeh’ effects and a mode Super Night for night photos.

The design is the other aspect that makes the vivo stand out, and the Y17s is no exception. The rear boasts a frosted panel, with a glass-like texture but resistant to fingerprints and scratches. It is also resistant to water and dust, with IP54 certification. It is available in two very striking colors, “Glitter Purple” with an anti-reflective texture, and “Forest Green” with two textures, one for the rear and another for the camera set.

The rest of the phone is not as striking, as expected. The screen is 6.56 inches with a brightness of only 700 nits (since it is an IPS LCD panel), and to that we must add that it is one of the few new phones that still have a ‘drop’ for the front camera, which It is 8 Mpx. The processor does not stand out either, a MediaTek Helio G85 accompanied by 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. The battery is 5,000 mAh, compatible only with 15W wired charging.
