The Fitbit Versa 2 was announced in August 2019 and if you intend to continue using it, it might not be a good idea to download and install the latest update released by the company for the wearable. According to several users of the Fitbit Community, the update is making it impossible to use the watch.
Reports indicate that the update is disabling the Versa 2’s touchscreen and entering commands randomly, making it impossible to use various functions of the wearable as we can read in the report below:
My Versa 2’s touchscreen stopped working. I can’t scroll in any direction and sometimes it scrolls on its own, bouncing back and forth from the clock to apps. I tried restarting but I can’t restart because I can’t scroll to the clock settings button. I can see that my steps, heart rate is being monitored and the time is current so I know the screen is not “frozen”.
The issue seems to affect some Versa 2 units, but we still haven’t been able to detect a pattern in the occurrences other than that all units have the bug after installing the latest update that is being released this week.
Therefore, we do not recommend that you download and install this update, as it is practically impossible to solve it, as the touch sensor on the screen stops working.
Fitbit did not comment on the problem and only advises users who notice problems with their units to go to an authorized service. Worst of all, the update continues to be distributed normally without any patches.
