The iPhone 14 Pro was introduced in September by Apple with a new 48-megapixel main camera with Action mode, which allows you to film with additional stabilization, but does that make it capable of competing with a GoPro Hero 11? See now how they fared in the test carried out by CNET that put them side by side.

The GoPro Hero 11 comes out ahead when it comes to resolution, as it is capable of shooting in 4K, while the iPhone 14 Pro is limited to 2.8K with Action mode enabled on the camera. Despite this, we can see in the image below that this function can bring good results during the day, bringing more smoothness when filming a bike ride in the park, for example.

The second test was running. In it, Justin Eastzer placed the iPhone 14 Pro and the GoPro Hero 11 on a strap that was at chest height to see how they would both be able to stabilize the image as he climbed rocks in a park.

This time, the GoPro Hero 11 was set to Hyperstable mode and the iPhone 14 Pro kept Action mode on, both at 60 FPS. According to Eastzer, it was possible to notice greater definition and saturation in the GoPro video, which also did better in terms of stabilization and managed to capture a greater angle thanks to the Hyperview lens.

Above we see another video shot by Eastzer where he rides his bike with both devices on a cobblestone street, which gave both cameras more work.

Here we have two considerations: the iPhone made the image more stable and captured fewer objects due to the narrower angle of the lens, while the GoPro had less stability, but managed to make the recording more immersive by making the image sharper and wider, in addition to handling better. with sudden bumps.

Therefore, we can say that practitioners of extreme sports should prefer a GoPro Hero 11 over the iPhone 14 Pro, after all it is more compact weighing only 154 grams against 206 grams of the iPhone. Another interesting point is that the GoPro has more accessories for recording in different environments such as underwater or fixed to other objects.

Finally, it’s also worth noting that the iPhone 14 Pro’s Action mode needs brighter environments than the GoPro Hero 11 to work, although the iPhone’s camera can handle bright backgrounds well.
