I would like to use a VoIP connection alternately in my home office and my holiday home. Do I have to log out of the account and log in again at the new location?

Most VoIP providers allow the account to be used at several locations at the same time. The only limitation is usually the number of calls that can be carried out at the same time. You can activate your VoIP account simultaneously on routers or VoIP telephones in the home office, in the holiday home and at other locations and, if you wish, also on your smartphone at the same time. You only need the access data for the VoIP account to set it up.

As soon as someone calls, all phones in all locations will ring. The call is answered on the device that answers the call first. So be careful with automatic devices such as answering machines, which may grab the call. In such a configuration, you should activate the “busy on busy” function on the VoIP device you are using so that calls that come in while you are already on the phone are rejected with a busy signal and do not just ring somewhere else unnoticed.

You have to do a little tricking if you have a Telekom VoIP connection and want to use the Internet connection of another provider at one of the locations. Telekom prohibits use from third-party networks. This can be avoided by setting up a VPN tunnel to the router on the home Telekom connection and routing the VoIP traffic through it.
