Tumblr mocks Elon Musk for selling two 'verification' stamps for $8

Elon Musk appears to be confused about the verification seal of Twitter, a social network that was recently purchased by the billionaire and which has since faced a string of employee cuts, new releases and instability in decisions made by the company’s new CEO, who repeatedly backs off after announcing changes.

After having added the traditional verification seal to the Twitter Blue plan, Musk tried to fix the error by launching a second seal in gray color, but he regretted it and canceled the feature that, curiously, returned to work this morning (11). indicating that the entrepreneur intends to maintain the validation system in this way.

With the novelty, any user can have the blue seal next to the account name paying a subscription of US$ 8 per month, about R$ 42 in direct conversion. The measure displeased most of the Twitter community, however, the criticism was met with discredit by the new owner of the platform who even published a meme on the subject.

In response to Twitter, the social network Tumblr announced the possibility for people to buy two blue stamps for only US$ 8, but reinforces that the icons are merely illustrative. Unlike rivals like Instagram and Twitter itself, Tumblr does not plan to provide a method for verifying the identity of accounts.

The novelty launched by the company is cumulative, that is, the stamps are added up each time they are purchased. In some cases, you can find profiles with more than 10 blue markers. Look:

Jesus was verified on Twitter

The possibility of any account having the blue seal in the name created a huge confusion on Twitter, this, since previously the marker was granted only to celebrities and institutions whose identity was valid. Recently, the @Jesus profile went viral on the Internet, earning the blue “verified” badge after subscribing to Twitter Blue.

Currently, the account has more than 797k followers and 297 posts. The profile was created in 2006 and comically features religious posts, especially about Jesus — the content is independent and not linked to any religious institution.
