The foldable smartphone market is about to be enriched with a new proposal, the Phantom V Fold made by Tecno. The company has confirmed that the smartphone will be made official on February 28 during the MWC 2023 and, as also suggested by the material shared by the company, it will be based on the MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ platform, which for the first time will land on a device belonging to the category of leaflets.

In addition to that, the Phantom V Fold has also shown itself in a first live video, where it is possible to give a preview of the leaflet in operation. As we can see from the video shared on Twitter, Tecno’s proposal recalls solutions such as Vivo X Fold+ (which we tested at the end of the year), in particular as regards the adoption of a hinge that allows complete closure of the leaflet in its book formatwithout leaving any space that could cause a difference in thickness between the two sides of the smartphone.

It is also particularly interesting that the external display is particularly wide, to the point of offering a form factor very similar to that of a traditional smartphone. Furthermore, the internal folding display has a hole dedicated to the front camera, which is positioned in the upper part of the right side.

The other features in common with the Vivo folding concern the adoption of a circular block for the rear camera, even if in the case of Tecno this is not recessed in another rectangular element, but occupies a large part of the rear surface. We have no idea which sensors make up the photographic module of this smartphone, as well as all the other features remain shrouded in mystery. It will therefore be necessary to wait for the presentation event or a preview tip; having said that, we leave you with the short film.
