A Samsung and AMD have agreed to renew their partnership strategy for using graphic solutions from the American manufacturer in processors from the Exynos line.

According to Samsung, this partnership has been important for its chip portfolio, since the AMD Radeon graphics solution delivers high performance and low power consumption. That is, something that is essential for smartphones.

Through this licensing extension, Samsung will bring console-level graphics quality and optimized power consumption to more mobile devices, offering an incredibly immersive and long-lasting gaming experience.

For those who don’t remember, the first agreement between Samsung and AMD was signed in 2019 and resulted in the Exynos 2200 processor with its Xclipse GPU, based on the AMD RDNA2 architecture, to offer ray-tracing on smartphones.

The chipset even managed to stand out in the Galaxy S22 line, but ended up being overshadowed by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. With the renewal of the agreement, Samsung has already been thinking about the development of the Exynos 2400.

Commenting on the matter, Seogjun Lee, Executive Vice President of AP Development at Samsung Electronics, underscored the importance of AMD:

Together with AMD, Samsung has been revolutionizing mobile graphics, including our recent collaboration that brought ray-tracing capability to mobile processors for the first time in the industry. Building on our technological know-how in designing ultra-low power solutions, we will continue to drive continuous innovation in the mobile graphics space.
