Apple released the second beta of iOS 16.4 for developers yesterday and, with it, some news for 5G users in Europe. According to user Vitor Gomes, MacMagazine reader, the new version already allows the use of 5G SA (standalone) in several operators, in addition to new features for SMS calls.
AND. Finally, Apple brought 5G SA to iPhones in Europe, at least at Vivo.

As we can see in the images, 5G SA is already available for users of iOS 16.4 Beta who have a Vivo chip or eSIM, while at TIM it is not yet possible to use the eSIM connection. In Claro, the option to activate the 5G SA mode is not even shown in the menu.
Update 4:
It arrived at Tim too, but it is not compatible with their eSIM yet pic.twitter.com/fh9U8ik1oe

In this way, it is likely that 5G SA with full support for these operators will be available in the final version of iOS 16.4. With it, it will be possible to reach the maximum speed potential of 5G, since 5G SA does not depend on 4G antennas to provide coverage.
Finally, it should be noted that the update also brought a change to the “VIVO Voice WiFi” feature, which was renamed “VIVO WiFi”, which allows you to send and receive SMS and voice calls via WiFi even without a cellular signal.
