A little less than a year after the start of the first tests of the current One UI Watch user interface, the 4.5 that we find today in a stable version on the Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 5 Pro, on which it made its debut, and on the Galaxy Watch 4 range, Samsung has just announced some of the new features that will arrive with the One UI 5 Watch.

ONE UI 5 WATCH FOCUSED ON THREE ASPECTS

The new version of the Korean company’s user interface will arrive later this year, both on the Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 5 ranges, in addition to the possible debut on the next generation of smartwatches expected during the second half of the year, probably in coinciding with the launch of the new foldables. The One UI 5 Watch will be based on Google’s Wear OS 4.

In a statement published on the official Korean website, Samsung says it has focused for the new One UI 5 Watch on improving three main aspects of the user experience: sleep tracking, smarter fitness tools and better safety features.

SLEEP MONITORING

As for the first aspect, sleep monitoring, Samsung’s goal with this new version of One UI is to “make it even easier” for users to rest during the night. To do this, it focused on three key elements:

  • Improved understanding of personal sleep patterns: One UI 5 Watch introduces Sleep Insights, a new user interface that provides a user’s sleep score and a clear snapshot of their previous night’s sleep. The interface also displays metrics on snoring hours, blood oxygen levels, and sleep stages to help users better understand their sleep patterns.
  • Promoting Healthy Sleep Habits: With One UI 5 Watch, Galaxy smartwatch users will be able to access Sleep Coaching directly from their wrist, a sort of personal trainer that eliminates the need to use the phone and makes it easier to follow a personalized coaching path to improve sleep quality .
  • Creating an environment conducive to sleep: Thanks to the better connectivity between Galaxy watches and SmartThings compatible devices, you will be able to establish an environment conducive to sleep. This means that more smart home devices will be able to react to the user’s sleep mode parameters, helping to create an optimal sleep environment for quality rest.

FITNESS TOOLS

The second point on which Samsung has focused is related to a series of new tools for fitness activities. The intention of the Korean company is to make Galaxy Watches even more useful in tracking sports activities thanks to a new Heart Rate Zone which will offer tailor-made tools for users, including real-time run analysis and a personalized interval training program. Thanks to these new features, users will also be able to obtain a detailed analysis of sports performance.

There Personalized Heart Rate Zone allows you to analyze individual physical capabilities and set five optimal training intensity levels: warm up, fat burning, cardio, workout hard and max. Thanks to this feature, users can choose their training goals according to their abilities and monitor their sports activity more precisely.

With the One UI 5 Watch, the training course will also be expanded by adding new running and walking activities. Additionally, Watch 5 Pro users will be able to access GPX files via Samsung Health app to get all the detailed data.

MORE SAFETY

Finally, One UI 5 Watch will be also focused on user safety. Among the new features, in fact, there will be a SOS system updated which will allow direct communication with an emergency telephone number and will transmit information about the user’s location and medical information.

Also, to make Galaxy Watches even more secure, One UI 5 Watch will enable the fall detection by default for users 55 and older. Thanks to these new features, users will enjoy greater peace of mind knowing that the Galaxy Watch will be able to help them in an emergency.

Samsung has confirmed that both Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 5 owners will be able to participate in the One UI 5 Watch beta test using the Samsung Members app. At present, however, the Korean company still did not provide details about the start of the beta program and the countries affected.
