Netflix announces creation of its own game studio in Finland

Netflix will no longer need third-party developers to expand its game catalog.

The streaming giant has announced the creation of its own game studio in Helsinki, Finland to create original games without ads or microtransactions. It will be led by former Zynga manager Marko Lastikka.

Despite Netflix’s efforts, the streaming service is not a reference when it comes to games. The company makes a number of titles available to subscribers on Android and iOS, but less than 1% of users access these games.

According to Netflix, Helsinki is a great place for bringing together some of the best gaming talent on the planet. She cites the developer of Next Games, responsible for The Walking Dead, Boss Fight and the creator of Oxenfree, Night School Studio, all acquired by the company.
