Microsoft and Recode announced on Monday (30) an extension of their partnership to provide technological training through free classes to young people assisted by Solar Meninos de Luz, a non-profit organization that promotes care, education, professionalization, culture and sports from the 3 months until age 18 in Rio de Janeiro.

The companies proposed activities aimed at creating applications with little or no code with the objective of qualifying the students of the institution. The grid covered topics such as creation of infrastructures in the cloud, digital tools aimed at the labor market and projections of technologies for the future.

Eryc Freire and Luiz Miguel Ferreira, both 15 years old, learned how to develop and code software applications for business management in Recode’s “Power Platform” course. Both devised solutions for the organization itself, including a database of student information that used to be lost before.

Hermom Tangarife, director of technology and infrastructure at the NGO, comments that the students’ project is already being used to improve the use of internal resources at the institution, which offers a variety of activities, including music and handicrafts.

Luiz Miguel, on the other hand, seems to have acquired new horizons with the Microsoft and Recode project. “I really enjoyed learning about technology and I’m thinking of joining the programming area, game development or something involving data”, he said.

Today it is not necessary to be a programmer to develop solutions that meet the needs of organizations, and the Power Platform training that we offer with Recode presents young people with the various possibilities of creating and innovating through technology, contributing to their qualification in low /no code, as well as other skills […] that are essential for the world of work of the future.

CEO of Recode, Rodrigo Baggio points out that programming knowledge is still a demand in the labor market, but learning with little or no code “allows to equip entrepreneurs from the periphery”, so that they can develop websites and applications to increase income and benefit all ventures.
