The Google team announced a series of new features that are coming to Google Maps.

New functions for cyclists and new aerial views of tourist places are added, which not only allow us to enjoy more content but could also help us when planning our trip.

Google Maps adds new aerial views on iOS and Android

If you frequently use Google Maps from your mobile, you will find more than 100 aerial images of tourist places with the new update of the application. Tourist places in cities such as New York, London, Barcelona, San Francisco, Tokyo, among others, are covered.

This is the first step toward launching Immersive View, an experience that combines AI with billions of high-definition aerial, satellite, and Street View images.

For example, you will find aerial images of the Empire State, Big Ben, the Statue of Liberty, the London Eye, Buckingham Palace, among others.

To see some of the photorealistic aerial views of these iconic places, just open the Google Maps app, and type the name of the place in the search engine. And if you have the update, within the Photos section you will find as a first option a video clip of about 40 seconds with an aerial view of the place. This update will be rolled out gradually, so don’t worry if you still don’t see these aerial views on Google Maps.

On the other hand, Google Maps is adding new options for cyclists. For example, new information is added and users are allowed to search for routes only for cyclists. This will return a series of important data, such as traffic conditions, elevation, if there are any hills, etc. These improvements will be implemented in the coming weeks in those areas that have bike routes.
