Next week starts Google I/O 2022one of the most important events of the company in which they will announce the next Android news, Google Maps, Google Photos, Assistant, new devices, among other products, but there will be some news that take a year to arrive, as is the case of Google Assistant integration with Chrome password manager.

This integration was announced in the past Google I/O 2021 but we have had to wait almost a year for this feature to start reaching the first devices to help improve the security of its users.

This is the integration of the Assistant with Chrome

For years, the Google Chrome browser has allowed us to save all our passwords in the cloud to enjoy their autocomplete when logging in, but it doesn’t just do that. It also performs a security check to detect if any of our passwords have been exposed in a leak.

When Chrome detects that one of our passwords has been violated, it shows us a warning and a direct access to change password, and until today you had to do that password change step by step. We had to enter the website, identify ourselves and among your account options change the password for a secure one.

Well, as Google announced almost a year ago, from now on Google Assistant will be able to make that password change automatically. For certain websites, the ‘Change Password’ option will be replaced by the new ‘Change Automatically’ option identified by the Google Assistant logo.

That password change will be done by the Google Assistant through the improved technology of Google Duplex, which began four years ago to make telephone reservations and then also went on to make reservations and orders over the Internet, now taking the step to change the compromised passwords. .

The Google Assistant AI is capable of automatically signing in, going into account settings and changing the password without the user having to do anything. The new password will be saved in the Google password manager.

What is unknown is in which languages, countries or websites the new integration of the Google Assistant with the Google password manager is already available. At the moment it has only been detected in the United States in the English version of the official Samsung website.
