YouTube Music is adding a new feature to make your profile have “social” features.

Although it already allows public playlists to be visible on the profile so that any visitor can take a look at them, now it gives the possibility of sharing more data from this section.

YouTube Music now lets you show your music stats

If you want your YouTube Music profile to reveal a little more about you and your musical tastes, you can take advantage of the new dynamics of the app.

As mentioned in 9to5Google, the app now allows you to share more data publicly from the profile. In addition to the public lists, data from your reproduction statistics may be made visible.

For example, you can make visible on your profile the artists, songs, videos and playlists that you have “listened to” on repeat in the last 7 days. Of course, in the case of videos and playlists, this dynamic will only be applied if they are not public. So any content you want to keep private will not be shared.

So the idea is that your profile shows what you have listened to recently, or what music has caught your attention in the last week. They are simple statistics that could catch the attention of those who visit your profile, since they could find musical matches.

How to activate the new YouTube Music feature

Of course, this new dynamic is optional, so you will have to activate this new setting if you want this data to be public. To do this, go to the settings of the YouTube Music app and scroll to the section “Privacy and location” >> “Channel settings”.

In this section you will see that a new section “Advanced privacy settings” has been added with the new options: “Show songs on repeat”, “Show artists…” Show music videos…” and Show playlists…”

You just have to activate the option that you are interested in making public, and it will already be available in your profile, based on your reproduction history of the last 7 days.
