The Google Drive app for Android is adding new options to add annotations to PDF files saved in our account or on the device.

So you no longer have to resort to third-party tools to leave a comment or annotation on a PDF, since you can do it from the Drive viewer itself. We tell you how this new dynamic works.

How to annotate PDFs on mobile

The latest update to Google Drive for Android adds the ability to annotate PDFs, either with a stylus or your finger. A function that is very easy to use from the PDF preview.

To do this, you just have to open the PDF file in the preview and click on the new icon that you will find at the bottom of the screen. You will see that a bar opens with different types of options for you to make your notes, from pen, highlighters to an eraser.

Of course, you will be able to choose between different colors and brush strokes, as well as undo and redo tools, among other options. A task that you can perform with your finger or with the stylus. When you finish your editing of the PDF, with all the annotations or markups, you will see that Drive gives you the option to save a copy of the PDF.

That way, you will have the original file without any editing, and the copy with all your saved annotations. Although they are basic editing options, it is a dynamic that will be useful for both mobile phones and Android tablets.

This new feature is rolling out to everyone, but if you don’t see them in your Drive account yet, don’t worry. Check if you have a pending app update on Google Play, or wait a few days until it is rolled out to all users.
