Samsung announces important news for the photographic capabilities of the Galaxy S22. In particular, the novelties concern a Expert RAW update that is the photography app released last year in South Korea for Galaxy S21 Ultra then also arrived on the Galaxy S22 range, and the debut of the new Camera Assistant app.
EXPERT RAW WITH ASTROPHOTO AND MULTIPLE EXPOSURE
The update to Expert RAW it is not trivial: in fact it carries the function Astrophoto, which, as the name suggests, allows stargazers to take photos of particularly complex scenarios, such as a constellation. The app does not require special skills to identify the right subject.

There is indeed one integrated guide which segments the image, makes it analyzed by the artificial intelligence e indicates on the screen the position of constellations, groups of stars or nebulae, so as to have images “that look like they were shot with professional equipment”says Samsung.

It also comes Multiple exposure which allows you to superimpose two images to get a creative shot. To use the beta versions of Astrophoto And Multiple exposure you have to go to the Expert RAW settings under Special Photo.
ASSISTANT CAMERA: MORE CONTROL ON THE HW
Then, as mentioned, there is the further option represented by the new one Camera Assistant. The app, in a nutshell, allows you to choose which automatisms to use for the shots, whether or not to use automatic lens change, automatic HDR, etc. It gives the user more control over the hardware. Here’s specifically what Camera Assistant can do on the Galaxy S22 (and in the future, we imagine, on other recent Galaxy too):
- turn off automatic HDR with which certain effects could not be obtained

- deactivate the automatic lens change which by default occurs for example when you switch to a dark environment while recording (from telephoto to main, which has a larger aperture)
- deactivate video recording with prolonged pressure of the shutter button to avoid errors

- faster shutter which allows you to take up to 7 images per second (useful with moving subjects)
- establish a preview timeout shooting / recording (1, 2, 5 or 10 minutes)
