The long-awaited 15-inch MacBook Air model will have the powerful M2 processor inside, leaving aside the also rumored Apple M3 chip that was initially indicated to be the enhancer of this device. This is the information he recently shared the profile “yeux1122” via the Korean blog Naver.

The 15-inch MacBook Air will not carry the next generation

According to the Taiwanese supply chain outlet via blog, AApple would have decided to integrate the M2 chip and not because of some kind of conflict with the production of chips by TSMC. What could have actually happened are different situations such as market conditions and some related to inventory.

Reports prior to this that also came from Korea mentioned at the beginning of April that Apple would not be making more M2 chips since the beginning of the year. This would be temporary and after some drops in demand for MacBooks.

This production pause would have taken longer than expected, reaching the month of February to resume production of the M2 processors. However, said production would only be at half the level compared to the yearor passed according to Korean reports that had a person closely related to the situation as a source.

Over the past week, the 15-inch MacBook Air along with a processor listed as “on par” with the M2 chip has even been mentioned in some App Store developer logs. This laptop added a CPU management of up to 8 cores along with a GPU of up to 10 cores. However, the M2 chip also kept around 8 GB of RAM. This new Apple device maintained a screen resolution approximate to that of the MacBook Pro up to 14 inches.

The exact release date for the 15-inch MacBook Air is still unknown. However, there is a certain probability that it will arrive for WWDC on June 5. The current 13-inch model and the M2 processor arrived in July of last year after being announced at WWDC in June 2022.

It may still be that the Mac with the M3 chip is a later version. The processor will have a 3 nanometer production process replacing the 5 nanometer one. The new 3nm process will also be present in the iPhone 15 of 2023. Performance will increase exponentially thanks to these new processors.
