Twitch is adding a new option for streamers to protect themselves from trolls and stalkers.

A new tool that will allow streamers to share the list of banned users with other channels.

Streamers will be able to share lists of banned users with other channels

Twitch has a number of configuration and moderation options to stop spam and harassment. And now it is adding a new tool so that streamers can share with each other the lists of users who have been banned from their channels.

Shared Ban Info builds on the Suspicious User Controls system and provides an easy way to share information about who you’ve banned from your channel with other streamers so you can collaborate to help keep serial bullies out of your communities.

It works as a kind of safety net that will help streamers keep their audience safe from harassers and trolls. Of course, this dynamic follows a series of rules and procedures.

To get started, the streamer has to go to the control panel and find the option that allows them to send a request to a certain channel to share information. When the request is approved, it is understood that both channels agree to share this information with each other. Following this dynamic, an “exchange relationship” is established, taking into account that there is a limit of up to 30 connections at most.

From there, streamers can apply different actions with these users who have been banned. By default they will be restricted to participate in the channel, but if the streamer wishes they can leave it in supervision.

In that case, users will be able to send messages in the chat, but they will be restricted so that the streamer and moderators can review them first. And of course, at any time the streamer can break the “exchange relationship” with another channel.
