TikTok may soon release a feature that allows create avatars stylized by an Artificial Intelligence. The novelty follows the pattern of what users can already find in Midijourney or Lensa tools.

According to Matt Navara, the feature will be called “AI Avatars”, and the tool allows the user to upload three to 10 photos of themselves and choose five styles of arts.

Then the AI will generate about 30 separate avatars so the user can download one photo or several at once. Thus, it will be possible to use the material to post on other social networks or use it as a profile picture.

While the styles used by TikTok are more limited than what you can find on Lensa, the preliminary results are very good and the feature is poised to become wildly popular.

To avoid server overload, TikTok will likely limit the use of the tool to a single use per day (per user).

For now, the feature still does not have a date to be made official. In any case, AI-generated imagery has raised a lot of controversy, as Lensa was sued after artists discovered that the AI was using parts of their work to generate personalized photos.

For this reason, US officials argue that these AI-generated images are not copyrighted.
