The Shrimp is a compact mechanical keyboard with 25 keys that help with portability. After all, it is a smaller product for you to keep in your backpack in case you need to take a trip with your notebook. However, it is not restricted to this use only, as it can help with ergonomics as well. By design, it also differs a lot from models like the Ornata V3, from Razer or the MX line from Logitech.

That’s because the gamer can feel some discomfort when looking for a favorable position to be able to play while moving the entire keyboard. Therefore, the more compact version helps at this point, as it contributes to the comfort of players. The product developer, Kari Viljanen, tells a little about the item:

We wanted to dust off the definition of a ‘gaming keyboard’ a little bit. There hasn’t been much evolution in keyboards since the computer terminal keyboards of the 1970s. Today’s “gaming keyboard” appears to be mostly a standard keyboard done in black with an addition of RGB lighting and perhaps a few extra buttons very far away.

She also recalls that the category of mechanical keyboards does not represent an innovation, but the return of a concept from the past that was superior, but was left aside due to manufacturers choosing to cut costs in the production of peripherals. That said, she concludes:

We don’t reinvent the wheel. The Shrimp is also a standard keyboard, albeit small in size. There were also keyboard-sized gaming devices before The Shrimp, but they weren’t standard in design, made to fit the keyboard and mouse on game consoles, or had some not-so-comfortable futuristic designs. I think we created a design that is comfortable to wear and looks great on your desktop.
