There are brands that rise like foam to fall at an impressive speed. Yahoo, Netscape, Blackberry… the latter is especially interesting to be analyzed in the mobile world, where it resisted relatively recently, when they launched the exceptional BlackBerry Key2 in 2019 (mobile that my brother-in-law continues to use without problems).

BlackBerry was quite the benchmark, with a 20% share of the global market just 10 years ago, but android and iOs killed it.

This story is set to be a movie called “BlackBerry”, where, according to Variety, we will see how it grew in the early 2000s and how it disappeared during the 2010s.

The production of the film, shot in Canada, the brand’s country of origin, has already finished, but they have not yet disclosed the release date.

The protagonists will be Glenn Howerton, from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Jay Baruchel, from This Is The End, surely playing the two founders of the company.

The brand has licensed other manufacturers to make phones, and TCL already made BlackBerry phones before OnwardMobility took over the brand. Since then, nothing has been manufactured.

These films help us get to know startups from the inside, to see how they grow from scratch chasing dreams and avoiding obstacles, encouraging entrepreneurs to keep fighting and knowing when to change hands, because when the giants get into your business, it is better to think about alternatives or join them.
