The Apple MacBook will debut a screen in 2024, and this was highly anticipated

It is already a long time that has passed since the first data appeared indicating that Manzana was working on significantly improving the quality of the screens of the MacBook. This would be done using panels OLED. But, to date, nothing at all. Well, it seems that the firm has already found the time to do this.

To the disappointment of some, Apple would not take the step until… the year 2024. Therefore, the devices that are launched now will not offer this type of screen and will stick with the LCD panels with mini-LED backlight combined with the ProMotion technology. This is a good solution, but it is not the qualitative leap that has been expected for some time for the laptops of the North American manufacturer.

The information comes from the hand of one of the great experts in everything that has to do with the supply chain of the company that created the MacBook, Ming-Chi Kuo. So if nothing moves on purchases of OLED panelsit is clear that at the moment there is no intention of taking the step of using this type of component in the laptops we are talking about.

(5/6) Compared to mini-LED, laptops that use OLEDs have the advantage of being thinner and lighter and offering more diverse form factor design options, like folding, so it has caused Apple to plan to ship the OLED MacBook by the end of 2024 at the earliest.

What is gained with the use of OLED in Apple MacBooks

Well, to begin with, an improvement in the design of the equipment itself. By using this technology, it is possible to achieve portals that are lighter and also thinner. Therefore, it would be possible to improve the appearance of MacBooks (as well as usability would increasesince it would be much more comfortable to carry the equipment from one place to another, either by hand or inside a backpack).

On the other hand, it must be remembered that OLED technology does not require the same backlighting as LCDs. Thus, in what has to do with the image quality would also improve because the contrast would be much higher. And, to round out the loop, the energy needs of these components are lower, so it could also be increase the autonomy of laptops from Apple. Everything is profit… but, of course, the costs are higher and this must be one of the things that the Cupertino firm is assessing so as not to have to raise prices exorbitantly.

The first models that could use these screens

Well, without having any precise data, but taking into account the update rate of the range of laptops that Apple is constantly carrying out, possibly the first to offer this new option would be a MacBook Air (could be the 13 or 14 inch). Next, it would skip to the Pro equipment. By the way, it is not at all ruled out that the OLED panels end up reaching the iPad, especially those with larger screens.
