WhatsApp has launched news to engage users with the status of their contacts. The feature now has audio options, inserting links and reactions with emojis, as is already available in conversation chats.
Something that was already being noticed by users is the green ring around the contact’s profile picture, which lets other users know that the profile publishes something new.
Currently, the statuses, as well as in other Meta networks, such as Facebook and Instagram, disappear in 24 hours and there are options to publish photos, videos, GIFs and texts. The guarantee here is that, like conversations, statuses are also protected end-to-end by encryption, which guarantees privacy and security.
And to make the user feel free to share their life updates or personal discoveries with friends, family and co-workers, it is possible to select who sees your statuses and prohibit some contacts from having access. As your publications become frequent, contact lists of previous statuses are saved to be reused.
Voice recordings of up to 30 seconds can also be shared and can be an option for those who express themselves better through audio rather than text. And, those who also like to react faster can choose from eight emojis to interact with the content, they are: passionate face, crying with laughter, surprised, sad, hands joined in prayer, palms, confetti and the red 100.
It is also possible to respond to statuses with text, voice messages, stickers and other possibilities.
As already mentioned above, to signal new statuses, profile photos get a green ring around them. This is noticeable in chat lists, groups and contact information.
Finally, the latest news released is that of inserting links. In status, a preview is shown to contacts so they know what they are clicking on. The new features have been released globally and should reach all users in the coming weeks.
