POCO F5: mass production has already started and launch will be soon, reveals new leak

Update (01/17/23) – JB

According to new information collected by Mukul Sharma, the mass production of the new POCO F5 and F5 Pro has started in Asia. The leaker claims that this indicates that the launch of smartphones could happen within the next few weeks.

As we know, the devices have already received a multitude of certifications so that they can be marketed even in Europe. However, only now will POCO begin the assembly phase of the devices.

For Sharma, in just two weeks the manufacturer is able to assemble the entire initial stock for launching in a large market like India.

The leaker even revealed that the POCO F5 might just be the rebranded Redmi K60 for global audiences. If the information is true, we should expect the smartphone to have a 6.67-inch OLED screen with a rate of 120 Hz and QHD+ resolution.

In addition, the processor will be Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1, while the main camera will have 64 MP. Complete the set, the 5,500 mAh battery with 67W charging and native Android 13.

As expected, POCO has not confirmed the veracity of the information.

POCO F5 has first specifications revealed in firmware leak

POCO launches high-performance cell phones in the F line, but at an affordable price. Its history began with the Pocophone F1, considered one of the brand’s greatest successes.

In 2022, the manufacturer launched the POCO F4, considered a disappointment by many users due to the few differences from its predecessor, the POCO F3. The first details of the POCO F5 have been leaked and bring interesting details.

The new POCO F5 should come with a 2K resolution screen. The first of the brand to bring the novelty was the POCO F4 Pro, but its performance did not reach the expected level. It is also mentioned that the device will be a renamed version of the Redmi K60, just as the POCO F4 was from the Redmi K40S.

The POCO F5 model code is M11A, but Xiaomi seems to have made some changes. It appears in the IMEI database as 23013PC75G which means 23=2023, 01=January, PC=POCO, 75=M11A, G=Global. Typically, the device would have code 23011311AG.

The POCO F5 would be codenamed Mondrian, AMOLED screen, 2K resolution (1440 x 3200 pixels), 120 Hz refresh rate and 1000 nits peak brightness. Under the hood, the Xiaomuiu website claims that the cell phone will come with the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 platform. If this is confirmed, it will be a significant performance gain compared to the POCO F4, which uses the Snapdragon 870.

The expectation is that the POCO F5 will be made official in the first quarter of 2023 in China, reaching India and the global market a few weeks later.
