poco f4 vs poco f3, which model is worth buying

POCO has celebrated a new product presentation and in it we have witnessed the arrival of two new terminals, one of which has brought us here. We are talking about the new POCO F4, the replacement of a POCO F3 that has earned its good reputation by hand and that now, logically, will be displaced from the catalog until the units in storage are exhausted.

But as is often the case in these cases, the differences between the two models have not been really notable beyond some aspects. So the question to ask is, Which one is worth buying right now? Do we get the POCO F3 that is already a year old or do we point towards the new model? We will try to clarify it below.

Tie in power and in almost everything else

LITTLE F4

A complete generation has passed but that has not made POCO give up its commitment to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 870. This means that both models, both the POCO F3 and the POCO F4, mount the same processor and, therefore, offer essentially identical power level. There is no separation between generations in this aspect.

Neither is there in terms of memories, since the only caveat is that the POCO F4 does not offer the 8GB and 128GB model that was the intermediate in the POCO F3. So we have two devices whose launches are a few months apart and which they are, in the purest part of their heart, of their engine room, the same device.

There are differences in the battery, for example, because although both models bet on almost the same batteries (4,520 mAh compared to 4,500 mAh), the POCO F4 doubles the maximum charging speed. The newcomer is capable of returning power to the battery at a maximum of 67W, already equating itself with the giants of the market, while the POCO F3 maintains its original 33W. Also fast charging, but much slower.

When it comes to connectivity, the only difference between the two models is that the new POCO F4 offers Bluetooth 5.2 while the POCO F3 only offers Bluetooth 5.1. Again, a change that is not too essential and that should not cause an imbalance in our decision. As we can see, the differences in these aspects analyzed between both models are not too noticeable.

We come to the photographic section, with a superior main rear sensor in the POCO F4. In the new generation we have 64 megapixels compared to 48 megapixels of the POCO F3. They tie in the super wide angle, with 8 megapixels with an f/2.2 lens for each one, but here we find the first change that clearly falls in favor of the POCO F3, that of the macro camera with its 5 megapixels compared to the 2 megapixels of the POCO F4.

The POCO F3 is the consistent bet right now

Little F3

Almost zero differences in design lead to a distance of 1 gram between terminals and practically twin measurements, and exactly the same thing happens in the rest of the characteristics. The POCO F4 only really has one thing going for it: it is newer and therefore your maintenance (system and security updates) will be longer. In return, it is a more expensive model, although it is likely that the first one will soon disappear, since its good sales should lead it to exhaust the stored stock.

In short, and always in the opinion of the person speaking to you: the most consistent bet at the moment is that of the POCO F3. A phone whose differences with the new generation are insignificant and whose price is significantly lower. Let us remember that the POCO F4 will start at 349 euros (as of July 4) in its first two days to cost 399 later, while the POCO F3 is already dancing between 250 and 300 euros. So, bet on the POCO F3 now before it runs out. Then the debate will be useless.

In summary.

In favor of POCO F4

  • Newer = more maintenance time
  • More megapixels in the main camera
  • More loading speed
  • Display supports Dolby Vision

In favor of POCO F3

  • Cheaper (while stock lasts)
  • More megapixels in the macro camera
