In most hacks, emails, names, addresses and, very occasionally, identity documents are stolen. In this case they have gone further, they have stolen bank account data from an Orange database.

Exactly, the hackers now have a name, surname, postal address, telephone, email, DNI, date of birth, nationality and the IBAN code of your current account, so this is all they could do with the data:

– call you on the phone posing as any institution, asking for passwords or more secret data, taking advantage of the fact that they have data that only a few companies have. The solution is simple: ignore all calls that ask for our information, even if it is presented as our relative, never give any information over the phone or by email.

– send you emails with false links where our data appears in detail. With so much information, it is easy to confuse them with real institutions. You have to ignore these emails, and always check the destination link of the emails we receive.

– Carry out banking operations. Hackers can open contracts using our IBAN, name, ID… they have practically everything they need to open an account in a gym, or even to create a new phone line. Unfortunately, there is little we can do, simply pay attention to the movements of the bank accounts to verify any strange movement and report it to the bank and the police. If the email we receive from Orange indicates that our IBAN has been stolen, it is best that we talk to our bank so that they block any registration that may occur in the future.

Orange says it will notify affected customers by SMS or email. You have the details in this PDF
