My mobile does not have 120 Hz, but with this trick I have made the screen look almost as fluid

Having a mobile with a 90 or 120 Hz screen is becoming more and more common and not only in high-end smartphones, since many mid-range and even budget-range mobiles are beginning to add it. Nevertheless, if you have a mobile that does not have this functionit will be good for you to know that there are other ways to make the screen go smoothly.

In its day we already told you how the Pixel 6a hide the possibility of configuring the screen at 90 Hz and although in other mobiles it is not possible to configure more refreshment than the screen allows, they do exist a trick that optimizes displacements by the system.

Speeding up animations creates a very similar effect

We insist on emphasizing that if a screen does not have the capacity to refresh its content at 90 or 120 Hz, a miracle will not work that allows it. Nevertheless, speeding up the animations helps create a very similar fluid experience. This is one of the developer settings.

Therefore, the first step is to have the developer settings activated. If you do not remember how to do it, just open the normal settings of the mobile and access the section of Device Information Y press seven times in a row (and fast) where it says “Build number”. After that the developer options will have been activated.

These options are found as one more section of the settings, although if they do not appear there it is possible that they have been inserted within the section System. Already entering these options you must locate the “Drawing” section and change the following options:

  • window animation scale
  • Transition-Animation Scale
  • Entertainer Duration Scale

These options are the ones that refer to the system’s own animations when we exit or enter an app, when we move in the app drawer and even when we open menus. To give a greater sensation of fluidity, they must be accelerated and for this just set them to 0.5x (by default they usually come in 1x).

It should be said that you can also turn them off, but the effect is less “pretty”, since it gives the feeling of being all too artificial, although out of curiosity you can try it. Also if you set it to 10x it will be funny, but only for a while, since this will slow down each animation a lot.

Leaving the three options at the aforementioned value of 0.5x is already more than enough so that, without the need to have 120 Hz, you notice your much smoother system. It is not the same and in video games with high graphic demands you will continue to lack that fluidity worthy of high refresh rates, but at least you will notice that scrolling through your mobile is much lighter.
