One of the biggest challenges for consumers today is to separate constructive criticism from other customers from fake accounts that use chatbots to write reviews. Thus, it becomes difficult to choose reliable products to buy.

According to a recent CNBC report, there are more and more fake Amazon reviews written with the use of AI chatbots. The marketplace seeks to develop a greater filter for this content, but it has been a complicated undertaking.

This is where Mozilla comes in, which is developing a tool to ensure that security for its user. The company announced that it has purchased a start-up company called Fakespot, which provides a website and browser extension that allows identifying fake or unreliable reviews.

Fakespot must combine a complex system of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to identify patterns and similarities between reviews, arriving at those most likely to be misleading. It assigns a grade to reviews, ranging from A to F, with A indicating that a review is trustworthy and F showing that the review is likely to be unreliable.

So far, the Fakespot extension is available for all major browsers and mobile devices. For now Mozilla intends to improve the service and then restrict it to Firefox in the future.

What do you think of this new security feature? Do you usually check the reviews you read on the internet? Leave your comment below!
