Apple has seen growing demand for its phones in the Chinese market over the past decade, and last year it achieved a record share of the Chinese market. According to the most recent data from the Counterpoint Research, in 2022, the region showed overwhelming demand for the iPhone 13 line.
The ranking released by the renowned research and market analysis company on Sunday (26) indicates that the iPhone 13 was the best selling cell phone of China in 2022, reaching 6.6% of market share. In second and third place, the iPhone 13 Pro Max and iPhone 13 Pro complete the podium with 2.2% and 1.9% of market sharerespectively.
Dominating the top three spots, the iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max showed excellent sales performance and surpassed shipments of some of the most popular Chinese models such as Honor X30, OPPO A56 and vivo Y33s 5G.
The iPhone 13, specifically, showed an above-average commercial performance by having a sales volume about three times greater than the iPhone 13 Pro Max in 2nd place.
Honor signs four of the ten best-selling phones in the ranking. The Honor X30, Play 30 Plus, Honor 60 and Play 20 were launched in the local market with the aim of catering to the public that is looking for devices with good specifications without charging too much.
The Chinese models listed in the ranking have suggested prices below US$ 500 (about R$ 2,600), while the iPhone 13 had a suggested price of US$ 799 (about R$ 4,179) at its launch in 2021. Now, the model is sold with a suggested retail price of US$ 699 (about R$ 3,659), which is still almost 40% more expensive than rivals with Android.
With the repeat of the success of the iPhone 13 Pro, it is possible that the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max will enter Apple’s list of best-selling devices in 2023. However, it is worth remembering that the iPhone 14 did not show as expressive a demand as its predecessor , which means that the scenario could be different this year.
