WhatsApp goes one step further in content privacy. After the introduction of temporary messages that delete texts, videos and images after a period of time, there was still the possibility that the receiver of the content made a screenshotBut now even that possibility is ruled out.

Temporary messages can be set to disappear after 24 hours, 7 days or 90 days

This is one of the novelties that WhatsApp has incorporated this August with its latest updates to the app, and it is present in both the version of the application for iOS and Android.

Furthermore, the new option to block screenshots does not need to be activated since, by default, it is already incorporated into temporary messages automatically, without the user having to access any menu to configure or activate it.

Specifically the screenshot lock on WhatsApp appears activated by default in temporary messages that include images or videos. Temporary messages in WhatsApp incorporate the possibility of configuring their automatic deletion after a period of time that the sender can choose: 24 hours, 7 days or 90 days.

When a message of this type is received, if the recipient tries to take a screenshot, in addition to not being able to do so, a message will appear indicating that this option is not available for privacy reasons. Additionally, the issuer of the content will receive a warning that a screenshot was attempted.

Temporary messages that contain only text do not include this option to block screenshots, nor is it available in normal messages, non-temporary ones, where the screenshot cannot be blocked either.

In any case, it should be remembered that even if these blocks exist, nothing prevents the receiver of the content from photograph or record the screen of the device with the camera of another device. The screen lock only affects the ability of the device itself to take that screenshot.
