The desktop platforms AMD Ryzen 7000 and 13th Gen Intel Core will support PCI-E 5.0 storage drives and, as expected, SSD manufacturers are getting ready to launch their first models.

After Samsung releases a teaser of its new generation of 990 SSDs, with PCIe 5.0it’s time for Gigabyte and Corsair, two of the most active and important companies in this consumer segment, to present their models with this specification.

Gigabyte has announced the AORUS Gen5 10000 SSD, which as the name suggests, aims to break the 10 GB/s barrier on sequential reads and writes. Unfortunately, the brand has not yet revealed further details about the component.

However, a screenshot in the CrystalDiskMark benchmark points out that an AORUS Gen5 10000 SSD version with 1TB of storage was tested and achieved peak performance above 12GB/s.

Corsair, in turn, showed a preview of the preliminary benchmarks of the MP700 PCI-E 5.0 SSD, with more generic data showing sequential read and write values of 10 and 9.5 GB/s, respectively.

Finally, it should be noted that there are no further details about the models and variations, prices or release dates. However, the availability of the first PCI-E 5.0 SSDs is expected to coincide with that of the motherboards for AMD AM5 and Intel Core from 13th generation.
