After a long wait, in September the function to edit tweets was finally made official. However, it is an option that is only available to Twitter Blue subscribers, so most users have to resign themselves to seeing this feature pass.

A situation that Elon Musk wants to change, since according to some reports, he wants to bring the editing of tweets to all users.

The function to edit tweets could be available to everyone

Recently, the function to edit tweets has begun to be implemented on Twitter, although only for those who go through the box to pay the subscription. However, in the near future this situation could change if what some reports have leaked is confirmed.

As The Verge mentions, Elon Musk is considering releasing this feature to be available to all users for free. That is, it will no longer be included within the characteristics of Twitter Blue.

One detail to keep in mind is that there is no official comment confirming this action by Twitter, but it is not unreasonable if we take into account Elon Musk’s vision regarding the platform. We have already seen, for example, that there will be many changes that will be implemented in Twitter Blue, from the price to the features that will be part of this subscription.

Returning to the function of editing tweets, the idea is that users can use this option to correct any spelling error, expand the information, update data, among other possibilities. To do this, they have a margin of 30 minutes to make any changes.

To make the process transparent, Twitter includes a review history. So while users will see the corrected tweet on their timeline, they have the ability to open the history and see the original tweet as well as the editing changes. An interesting and practical dynamic.

At the moment, we will have to wait to see if the tweet edition will reach everyone as part of the changes that Elon Musk plans to implement.
