Every time there is a more ecological awareness in everyone, something basic, since the planet is at a point of almost no return. Everyone does what they can, and a new Google Maps feature is designed to do just that and, at the same time, save you money. Sounds really good, right? Well, we tell you what it is. The new function that the North American firm is deploying in several countries, including Spain, is called Ecological Routes and it is one more option that appears when establishing a destination point in the application and choosing between the possibilities offered by the development to user. There is the fastest one, to give an example, and from now on, also the one that is estimated to be greener because it consumes less gasoline. In this way, if the aforementioned do not coincide, you can choose between them according to your needs: arrive as soon as possible or spend the least amount of fuel. The latter obviously releases less carbon into the atmosphere – a problem that is important because we are talking about the largest cause of pollution of this type in Europe, according to the latest reports that have been published. How this new option works in Google Maps Well, simplicity is the predominant note, since the steps that have to be taken are the usual ones when creating a route in the application. Once you enter the destination, when choosing between the available options you will find one that leads you to indicate the type of engine that the vehicle with which you will circulate has. The options are gasoline, diesel, electric and even hybrid. Once this information is established, among the route options that are shown on the next Google Maps screen, there will be the one that is estimated to need the least fuel to reach the destination (which does not necessarily have to be the fastest, you must take this into account) . If you select it, a message will appear on the device screen with the savings you will achieve, and then you can start following the instructions. Therefore, no complications, since everything is quite recognizable in the Google service. Deployment in the application This has already begun, and especially has a lot of presence in the trial version that exists in Google Maps and can be obtained in the company’s official store for Android. It is perfectly translated and its integration is complete, so you simply have to get hold of this development and start saving gas. Of course, in the stable option of the app, it may take a while to appear -since the use of ecological routes must be activated from the server-. But this, at most, will take a couple of days. >
