Cornershop by Uber, a supermarket shopping delivery application, continues its expansion of modalities and announced this Monday (13) that it is releasing the use of bicycles for deliveries in the city of Sorocaba, in São Paulotwo weeks after the debut of the new option in Campinas.
The modality will increase the number of delivery partners in the municipality, which also has delivery options by car or motorcycle. With the addition, a wider range of workers will be able to generate income with the delivery application for purchases in markets, pharmacies and other establishments.
The service has been available in Sorocaba since 2020, serving as a way to support the population in isolation and workers whose incomes were damaged during the coronavirus pandemic. Since then, the company has been working to expand the in-app product segments and delivery process.
Cristina Alvarenga, Head of Cornershop by Uber, explains that initiative allows consumers to have a wider range of couriers — optimizing the logistics of purchases in smaller volumes, such as products from pharmacies and small grocery stores — in addition to benefiting partners who do not have a license for cars or motorcycles.
Fans of cycling must provide a personal identification document with a photo; workers with a car or motorcycle must present the documentation of the vehicle and their valid national driver’s license (CNH). To become a delivery partner, simply register on the Cornershop by Uber website. It is mandatory to be at least 18 years old.
