Application drivers like Uber and 99 threaten to strike next Monday (15) throughout Europe. According to representatives of the category, the intention is to make a stoppage of 24 hours.

The Association of Application Drivers of São Paulo (Amasp) calculates that 70% of professionals should join the general strike in search of better working conditions and higher transfers in fares for rides.

Commenting on the subject, Eduardo Lima de Souza, president of Amasp and director of Fembrapp, points out that drivers are seeing their earnings drop day after day.

the claims are numerous, from readjustments and better transfers in tariffs, regarding security, unfair bans, improvement of the platform in terms of tools, more dignity, better working conditions, among other points.

Souza also said that the platforms get about 60% of the value of the ride, something that seriously affects the profit of drivers. He also says that since 2016 there has been no relevant adjustment in the amount passed on to the driver.

Therefore, on the 15th, the idea is that all drivers keep the application turned off so as not to work. In the case of São Paulo, the category also plans to hold street demonstrations.

we are going to do a day off to show the seriousness of the situation when the driver is not in operation.

Despite expecting a large number of people to join the act, especially in the big cities, Souza is aware that many drivers may end up “breaking” the strike, since they claim they need to pay the bills and won’t be able to go a day without being paid for the rides.

Even so, the size of the stoppage is already enough to draw the attention of the applications to the need to readjust the transfers for the races.
