As previously announced, THQ Nordic held an event this week to reveal news about the remake of Alone in the Dark.
With launch scheduled for October 25, the game will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. As revealed during the event, Alone in the Dark stars David Harbor (Stranger Things, Black Widow) and Judy Comer (Killing Eve, Free Guy) as series leads Edward Carnby and Emily Hartwood as they explore the mysterious Derceto mansion. .
A free playable prologue called Grace in the Dark is now available for download. The sequence takes place a few weeks before the game and features a young woman named Grace Saunders as she wanders around the mansion, trying to mail a letter.
While the final game will include combat with monsters, the prologue doesn’t have any combat, as the protagonist is a child.
In a statement during the event, the creator of the original 1992 game, Frédérick Raynal, gave the remake his blessing. “With all the remakes going on today, you’re never quite sure what you’re going to get at the end,” he said.
Players who pre-order Alone in the Dark will receive the Decerto 1992 Costume Pack DLC, which replaces the character models with the low-poly characters from the original game.
A Digital Deluxe Edition will also include a Vintage Horror Filter Pack DLC and a Director’s Commentary mode.
