We have always been comparing WhatsApp with Telegram. Definitely, at least for me, the second one is better than the first one in many aspects but we don’t know why the one with the green icon is still the most used. Little by little with the updates, many of the functions of the Russian application are being implemented in the American Meta. One that is being tested right now is the ability to add someone by username rather than phone number. It was time, besides.

Using WahtsApp by username is synonymous with privacy

One of the characteristics in which Telegram affects the most is the possibility of establishing a wall in terms of the ability of other people to find out data from other users. That is, it affects and a lot in keep privacy of those who want to use your application. It does it in the simplest way possible and that is to use a username instead of a phone number.

At the time of registering in the application, you must give your phone number to start in Telegram. But you can easily hide that information and tell the app to search for you by other users by your chosen username and not by phone number. That means that you can only have real contacts to those who know that username.

That is not possible in WhatsApp and that meant that everyone could see your phone number at the moment they added you to their green application. But it is now being tested in beta phaseof course, that we can use a username as in Telegram and in that way not have to discover us before someone we don’t know who he is. Imagine your children’s after-school activity group or a group that has been created with more people you don’t know to give a gift to someone you know. Ideal.

For this reason, among other things Telegram is better. Now they just have to try the function of being hidden from others and not being found if you don’t want to. Would be wonderful.

At the moment they are tests and on Android they are easier to do, but if you can get it to work without problems, we will have the version on iOS soon.
