Xiaomi, these are new: 12s and 12s Pro, new tops coming?

So, out of nowhere, here is where you have to be careful of a new project from Xiaomi. The potentially burning indiscretion comes via Twitter from the informant Shadow_Leak, the same one who a few months ago was among the first to provide us with the possible technical identikit of Pixel 6a. Of Xiaomi 12s and 12s Pro in fact, we had never talked about it before, and not even looking through the previous chapters of the Chinese company will you find similar products.

But the volcanic nature of Xiaomi we certainly do not discover it today, so it is not difficult to believe the hypothesis advanced by the rumor. Sam, o @Shadow_leakhis did it by reporting the possible debut of Xiaomi 12s and Xiaomi 12s Pro, the first with Qualcomm’s known Snapdragon 8 Gen1, the second with a known but not yet official chip, namely the revised and enhanced Snapdragon 8 Gen1 + variant which should debut in the coming weeks to arrive on the market in the second half of 2022.

The curious “coincidence” is that rumors have been suggesting for some time now the use of the Snapdragon 8 Gen1 + on Xiaomi 12 Ultra, so the most immediate hypothesis to think about is that Xiaomi 12s could be a 12 Ultra renamed for some markets. Hard to think, with the information we currently have in our hands, that the two 12s could be one mid-cycle update of existing smartphones, if only because usually these operations are accompanied by an update to the SoC, which instead would remain the same in the hypothetical handover between Xiaomi 12 and 12s.

Sam did not share any other information, so at present it is difficult to unbalance or put forward other hypotheses. The two Xiaomi 12s could be nothing more than a spring dream or who knows, maybe, they will materialize for real, time will tell. The only certainty for the high-end segment of the Chinese company is the arrival of Xiaomi 12 Ultra whose debut is expected to take place in the second half of the year, it is said in the third quarter, although last month Mukul Sharma warned of a possible launch later this month.
