Update (5/8/2023) – HA

Currently, one of Samsung’s great intentions is to bring the Exynos chipsets back to its flagship smartphones in the new Galaxy S24 line. For these devices, the rumor is that Exynos 2400 SoC chipsets would be offered.

According to @Tech_Reve on Twitter, the markets that should receive this version of the Galaxy S24 are countries in Europe and Southeast Asia. In the case of North Americans, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor will come under the hood. Experts point out that Snapdragon chips are usually slightly better than Exynos in terms of power efficiency and GPU performance.

Old rumors pointed out that only the most basic version of the line would come with the Exynos 2400 chipset in some regions, retaining the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for the S24 Plus and S24 Ultra. However, the informant drops this expectation, stating that these models will also come equipped with the chipset.

Although there is no official confirmation, this rumor is quite grounded as Samsung has already offered Exynos variants of its flagship smartphones in the same regions.

Samsung may launch Galaxy S24 with Exynos 2400 in some countries; Plus and Ultra would have Snapdragon 8 Gen 3

Samsung may re-launch its most advanced phones with different processor options varying by region. After launching the Galaxy S23, S23 Plus and S23 Ultra exclusively with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, the manufacturer is expected to resume production of its own chips and announce devices with the Exynos 2400 in 2024.

On Sunday (23), the leaker RGcloudS said that Samsung will launch the Galaxy S24 Plus and Galaxy S24 Ultra with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 – possibly maintaining the exclusive “for Galaxy” version developed in partnership with Qualcomm. The Galaxy S24, in turn, could reach some countries with the Exynos 2400, supposed successor to the Exynos 2200.

The informant reiterates that this information is not yet certain, but believes that the South Korean giant would be considering this strategy as a way of “showing that it has fixed its foundry and the Exynos development team”. For this, the Exynos 2400 would have a limited availability to some regionsonly on the Galaxy S24.

Rumors released this week indicate that the alleged Xclipse 940 GPU of the Exynos 2400, based on AMD’s RDNA architecture, could reach 13,858 points in Vulkan — 7% higher than the Adreno 750 GPU score of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. This preliminary data may suggest an improvement in Samsung hardware performance.

The Exynos 2400 can be equipped with an unprecedented 10-core configuration: 1 ARM Cortex-X4, 2 high-frequency Cortex-A720, 3 low-frequency Cortex-A720 and 4 Cortex-A520. Furthermore, it is expected that the platform will be assembled using the FoWLP (fan-out wafer-level packaging) method, which promises to make it faster and more efficient.

After the negative reviews of the Exynos 2200, which had problems with energy efficiency and below-average performance compared to the competition, Samsung has stated multiple times that it would not abandon the production of its processors. In February, the manufacturer announced the Exynos 1330 and 1380 as its new mid-range chips.
