After some other teaser in which part of the design was visible or, directly, it was announced that it would have a telephoto, Realme has just presented its new Realme 12 Pro family. These are two mobile phones that arrive to take the baton of some Realme 11 Pro+ and Realme 11 Pro that we liked last year for its balance and, above all, good taste in design.

They maintain design and advance in photographic capabilities
First of all, let’s talk about the design. Here, Realme has taken note of the good reception of last year’s models and has applied the maximum of “if it works, don’t change it”. The two models are very, very similar to what we saw last year: vegan leather on the back with a trim in the central area, circular camera module and screen that makes good use of the front with curved sides.
The camera module, however, goes up a level this year and has a more premium appearance. In addition, in both models it goes up a few steps compared to last year’s mobile phones. The reason is that They both have a telephoto and finally forget about the macro camera.
If we start with the cameras of the Realme 12 Pro 5G, we have a Sony IMX882 sensor with optical stabilization and f/1.8 aperture for the front camera. It can record up to 4K30 and is accompanied by an 8-megapixel wide-angle lens and a 32-megapixel Sony IMX709 telephoto lens, f/2.0, optical stabilization and 2x focal length.
That telephoto already makes a difference compared to what was seen last year, but If we talk about the cameras of the Realme 12 Pro+we have a main 50-megapixel Sony IMX890 with optical stabilization (like that of the OnePlus 12R), the same 8-megapixel wide-angle lens and a telephoto lens signed by Samsung.
This is the OV64B, a 64 megapixel sensor with f/2.8 lenses, optical stabilization and a 3x focal length, which is what we have seen in the OnePlus 12. From Realme claim that you can get a 6x’lossless‘ thanks to a digital telephoto which takes a cutout of the central part of the sensor. This is something that we have already seen in other phones to generally achieve a high quality 2x. In addition, it promises to reach 120x digital.
The screen of both is exactly the same. They have a 6.7-inch OLED panel with 2,160 Hz PWM and 120 Hz refresh rate. The resolution is FullHD+ with 2,412 x 1,080 pixels and Realme ensures that they have a peak brightness of 950 nits and a front-facing utilization of 93%.
If we go inside, there are things that are identical in both, such as the 5,000 mAh battery with 67 W charging and the system fully updated with Android 14 and Realme UI 2.0, but the processor changes.
The heart of the Realme 12 Pro 5G is the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 while the Realme 12 Pro+ has the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2, a much more ambitious SoC. The storage capacity is identical for both (128 or 256 GB), but the RAM options are different: 8 GB for the Realme 12 Pro and 8 or 12 GB for the Realme 12 Pro+.
