The stock of pre-installed applications on Android makes life much easier as long as you have the necessary software at hand for the main tasks, but there is life beyond Google and in some cases it is better. Although I was moderately happy with Google Chrome and I have tried other very interesting alternative browsers, in the end I always ended up returning to the default one. Until I installed this fast and clean free browser on my Android and I no longer want to go back to Google Chrome.
Why Soul Browser has convinced me
It’s called Soul Browser, it has a score of 4.4 out of 5 on the Google Play Store and is available free. Once you install the application on your mobile and open it, you can start using it without much mystery since apparently, it is a very minimalist and intuitive browser.
Thus, it has the classic search box in the upper area, the favorites star, refresh, go forward and back, go to Home, open windows… the clearest icons so that you always have in mind what you are going to do even before to press them. But that feeling of lightness is not only present in its appearance, but also in the navigation, because it moves between websites fluidly. It goes like a shot.
I have mentioned the main icons above, leaving one for later because it is its great asset: the long list of available functions. If you touch the three horizontal lines in the upper right corner, a surprise arrives in the form of a huge utility drawer.
In fact, the first thing you will find when you open that drop-down menu is a red shield with a number: they are the ads you have blocked. It is activated by default, but you can deactivate it if you see fit and also customize it with various ad filters, allow or disallow images, configure whitelist and exceptions. The truth is that just with the basics you can tell. However, if you are a person who is jealous of your privacy, it has advanced security functions to avoid tracking or incognito mode.
Other things you can do right away are translate the website with the touch of a button and without resorting to external apps, switch from text to audio to listen to the web page podcast style, share to play with Chromecast, save the page or turn it over to PDF, view only images and download them, go to full screen, go to one-handed operation mode, switch between mobile or desktop mode.
The previous ones are interesting, but my favorites are the functions that allow, the video player with support for subtitles (ideal for the tablet), download videos directly and the edit images directly from the browser. And this without entering the settings options, where there is a cleaning mode or different designs to choose from as suits you. In fact, the fact that it is so complete and customizable implies a handicap: to get the most out of it, it is necessary to give it a good thorough review.
It is surprising how much it offers without any limitation or premium blockage because as I mentioned above the application is free, but it has a B side: from time to time you can find some other advertisement, so if you want to get rid of them completely you will have to pay a single payment of 1.59 euros. I have not done it and so far the experience is more than good.
