It can be intimidating to do it at home, but you can now officially repair the latest Samsung foldables at home with branded parts and tools

After a time available in other territories, this summer Samsung’s self-repair program arrived in Spain. This is an initiative of the South Korean company so that the user can repair certain components of their mobile phone without having to resort to technical service and which is closely aligned with the European right to repair regulations.

Now, Samsung has decided to introduce new mobile phones in this ‘Self-Repair’ program And, if you are a bit handy and some components of a car have broken down, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 either Galaxy Z Flip5, you can repair them at home. Next, we will tell you what the program consists of and what you can repair.

We can now repair Samsung folding devices at home

Apart from the novelty in devices that can be repaired at home, Samsung has announced that is expanding the program to more European countries such as Denmark, Greece, Hungary and Portugal.

If we go to repair, at first (and with the Galaxy S23 on the streets for quite a few months), Samsung limited this self-repair program to the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S22. We knew that, little by little, they were going to expand the list of models, but the truth is that it is taking a while.

In the statement, the company has confirmed that The Galaxy S23, as well as the Galaxy Tab S9 and the Galaxy Book 2, have also been added to the programbut the stars of today’s news are the folding ones.

And, for the first time, they will let us repair different parts of the folding ones, the latest ones launched on the market. What pieces? Well the screen, rear glass, charging ports, speaker, SIM tray, unlock button and volume control buttons.

On laptops they do allow us to change the touch panel, the fan or the battery, among other components, but this last element, which would be interesting to be able to change at home, is not yet possible.

When we need to carry out a repair, we will have to contact Samsung through this page, where we have tutorials, user manuals, some instructions and links to check the warranty, consult the spare parts and start the whole process.

At that moment, Samsung will send us the repair kit, which consists of the element we want to change and the tools to do it. In addition, we can keep those tools in case a component fails again in the future.

Price of spare parts for the Galaxy Z Flip5 and Z Fold 5

Something interesting are the prices of these pieces. Samsung has a section in which we can see the price of all the components, but Let’s look at some components of the folding ones..

There are elements that cost a few euros, such as the Galaxy Z Fold5 screen tape for 7.50 euros, the SIM tray replacement for 6.05 euros or the volume button for 3.39 euros. In the Flip5 they have similar prices: the same for the volume button, 5.69 euros for the SIM tray, 1.69 euros for the power button or 19.17 euros for the rear glass.

However, screens are the key. In the case of the Flip, the internal screen is what we can replace for 280.36 euros. If we go to the Fold, the front screen costs 108.94 euros and the internal one is 526.73 euros.
