HTC is working on a “Metaverse-focused” flagship, which was supposed to be released sometime this year.

However, according to WinFuturethis might not happen, since HTC has postponed its next flagship.

HTC used to be one of the leading smartphone makers, but now it’s hardly a relevant player. While the company has found a niche in VR with its Vive devices, we’d love to see HTC return to the smartphone market with a bang.

HTC still seems to want to make phones, though lately it has focused on niche markets like cryptocurrencies.

His next phone was going to be focused on the Metaverse, although we don’t know what the company is referring to.

The delay is due to the pandemic and a shortage of chips. The lack of chips continues to wreak havoc and put several technology companies in trouble. Even companies like Samsung and Apple are feeling the brunt of the chip shortage.

These two factors are what have led HTC to postpone this phone for the time being. We’re not sure if the postponement, in this case, means the company is simply pushing back the launch date or ditching the phone altogether.
