Over the last few years, WhatsApp has accustomed us to a constant pace of updates. All of them focused on the same objective: Offer their users everything they need so that their application continues to be one of the most downloaded and used, year after year. For a long time now, WhatsApp has stopped being an app with which we only exchange messages, to become one of the main communication tools we have today: also allowing us to call, video call and make group calls when we need it.
All updates initially land in a beta version, restricted to a select number of users, and oncez small bugs fixed that these versions may have, are launched to the general public on a massive basis. And this is precisely the point at which its latest innovation is found: the possibility of being able to create events and manage them without having to leave the application.
Organizing events without leaving WhatsApp
Currently, this new functionality is still in beta phase, as reported by the specialized media WABetaInfo. However, it is expected that it will soon be incorporated into the new planned updates. From that moment on, any user who wants to organize an event in a group chat will have to go to the clip icon that we find in the space to write messages and select on the calendar icon that we can see at the bottom right.
As we can see in the screenshot posted by the previously mentioned media, creating the event will be very simple. We will only have to fill in the event name, the description, if necessary, the date, time and location. In addition to having a space available to add a link for a video call. From then on, all participants in the conversation will have the option to provide information about their attendance.
One of the aspects that stands out about this new functionality is that it will also serve as a calendar. Since we can configure an alert system when the date gets closer, avoiding the loss of attendees due to forgetfulness, which can be so common.
For group chats only
As we have previously mentioned, this new functionality will be reserved, at first, for group chats. We do not have information yet on whether it is expected to extend to other types of chats, if we want to make personalized and individual invitations.
While we wait for its official arrival, we will have to remain attentive to find out the next movements that are planned by the company in its future updates for the general public.
