Samsung has announced that the service SmartThings Find has grown rapidly and already has over 200 million search nodes that help users locate their missing devices.

The search nodes are devices that have registered with the SmartThings Find service to help other Samsung Galaxy users locate their lost devices.

“We are proud and excited to see the rapid growth of the SmartThings Find service. In less than two years, 200 million devices have chosen to help other Samsung Galaxy users find their lost devices, making it one of the fastest growing services at Samsung. “said TM Roh, President and Head of MX (Mobile eXperience) Business at Samsung Electronics.

“Losing a device can be stressful, but SmartThings Find makes it easy to quickly locate and recover your device. It’s just one example of how a connected ecosystem of devices creates meaningful experiences for Samsung Galaxy users around the world.”

SmartThings Find allows Samsung Galaxy users to quickly locate registered Samsung Galaxy devices – from smartphones, tablets, watches and headsets to personal items have a Galaxy SmartTag or SmartTag+ device attached.

SmartTag and SmartTag+ are Samsung’s location tags that allow you to locate personal items such as keys, wallets, backpacks, suitcases, etc. They make use of Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) technology and, in the case of SmartTag+, also Ultra Wide Band (UWB)

Smart Tag is available for all Samsung Galaxy smartphones, tablets and other devices running Android 8 or later.

SmartTag+ is available on Galaxy S22+ and Ultra, S21+ and Ultra, Note20 Ultra, Z Fold2 and Z Fold3 UWB-equipped devices.

If a device is out of phone range of one of the Samsung Galaxy users, other nearby users who have opted into SmartThings Find can help you locate it. By granting permission to SmartThings Find, it can also notify users that they have left the device.

SmartThings Find encrypts user data and keeps it safe using the Samsung Knox security platform. Location data from a device can only be disclosed to others with the user’s permission.

In addition, the device ID of each user changes every 15 minutes and is stored anonymously. SmartThings Find also helps users identify unknown SmartTags that follow them for a certain period of time.
